Den jazyků a evropský den salátu ! 26.9.-27.9.
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES – EUROPEAN DAY OF SALAD
September 26 th is the official European Day of Languages, a day reserved for celebrating learning languages, as well as preserving some of the less widely-used ones in Europe today.
We European volunteers in Sofia City Library decided it would be fun to celebrate this day too, so we decided to discover a word that is the same – or almost the same – in each and every one of the 24 official languages of the Union.
The word we found is salad! Salata, insalata, ensalada, σαλάτα, салата, Salat, salaatti, salade, saláta, salāti, sailéad... We would all understand if somebody asked us for a salad. Aptly so: what is the European Union if not a giant salad?
The plan we have so far for the event in the library, which is going to take place in the American Corner on September 26 th, 5:00pm – 7:30pm, is this:
We are going to find as many international European people as we can, volunteers or not, and each one will have to make a typical salad from his or her own country. We will have many types of “national” salads from all around Europe. Each one will have a list of ingredients in the language, and a recipe in English and Bulgarian. Visitors will be given a dish at the entrance and will be able to sample the delicacies we’ll have prepared. But! There’s a catch: we will only serve salads to anyone who orders in our own language! For that, next to the list of ingredients, there will be a guide for simple ordering of salads in the respective language.
We are also planning a presentation, infographics, games and other salad-related activities to be confirmed.
Because the key to every salad's yumminess is the quality of the ingredients. Believe me, we've got the best! 500 million people would agree.
Pre Salata event momentálne nemáme zastúpenie Česka, tak ak by mal niekto záujem sa pochváliť svojím tradičným šalátikom a stráviť príjemný podvečer, tak ma kontaktujte, takisto, ak by mi niekto chcel pomôcť so slovenským šalátom, ak by bol strach, že to v mojom podaní nedopadne najlepšie a budem hanobiť našu vlasť :)
